YOGA METHOD
The origins of yoga can be found in Norther India thousands of years ago. Several methods of yoga emerged out of India in the 1950s and yoga became famous all over the world.
My journey started with Hatha Yoga. In this practice, body and mind are intimately linked and physical preparation is essential to achieve Self-realization.
I then integrated Hatha Yoga with Iyengar Yoga, developed by guru B.K.S Iyengar, where precision and alignment of postures are key to work on the body at the physical, physiological and psychological levels.
Yin Yoga, more gentle and relaxing, allows us to work out our body connective tissues (joints, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and fascia). Postures are held for a longer time while the body and mind relax deeply. Energy channels are stimulated and Prana (vital energy) is sent flowing through our body. Yin Yoga is particularly recommended for people who have hectic lifestyles and who wish to regain control of their balance with a more static practice of internalization and acceptance.

At the beginning of each practice, it is essential to let go stress and thoughts that torment us and look inside ourselves.
The dynamic asanas (postures), through the release of contractures and tensions, reactivate our energies and strengthen the body. For a fruitful yoga practice, flexibility is not essential. However, it is essential to know how to listen to your body and to move according to your abilities, with the help of suitable supports if necessary (bricks, straps and blankets).
Pranayama (breath control) and meditation help us calm our nervous system and connect with our deeper being, thus finding harmony. Too often we forget the significance of breathing. “The mind is the king of senses, the breath is the king of the mind” : this is how master B.K.S. Iyengar summarizes the fundamental role of the breath in controlling our senses and, therefore, our emotions.
The class ends with a final deep relaxation, which helps us gaining awareness of the practice benefits.
